Sansepolcro very well preserved Medieval and Renaissance town, birthplace of Piero della Francesca, the celebrated Renaissance painter. We visit the Franciscan Convent of Montecasale, which offers a unique view over the valley. In the early Middle Ages it was an important fortress on the mountain pass and then became an “hospitium” Monastery. St Francis used to attend the convent with his acolytes. After we take a scenic path to reach the tiny village of La Montagna where we can find the traces of its Longobard origins. We can have lunch here in a family run trattoria .
